Acne is having a moment, and not the kind we asked for. In fact, adult acne is quietly becoming one of the most common skincare concerns of our time, affecting one in five people globally.*
It’s hormonal, it’s environmental, it’s emotional, and for many, it’s deeply personal. Our Lab Tech, Katelyn, knows this all too well. Here she shares her journey with acne-prone skin and the simple, science-backed routine that’s making a difference.
Adult acne isn’t something I ever thought I’d still be dealing with, yet here I am. I’ve been struggling with very oily, acne-prone skin since my early teens. Over the years, stress and sleepless nights from studying have only made things worse. However, I knew it was time for a serious intervention.
Living with acne has made me feel incredibly self-conscious at times, and honestly, it’s been emotionally draining. But what has helped me finally get it under control? A simple and consistent skincare routine.
At the moment, I’m cleansing with our Ultra Clear Foaming Cleanser, and use the Ultra Clear Treatment Lotion daily. This serum calms my breakouts without drying out my skin.
To keep my skin nourished and soothed, I rely on the Ultra Calming Moisturiser Cream, and if I need an extra hydration boost, I add in the Ultra B² Hydrating Serum.
My all-time favourite product is the Ultra Clear Purifying Mask. I use it as an all-over treatment and occasionally, as a targeted spot treatment. It helps reduce redness, calms breakouts, and keeps my oily skin in check.
The real game-changer though, has been our newest innovation, which I have been working closely with, the Clarifying Mandelic Peel. Designed to target four key concerns of acne-prone skin, including excess oil, clogged pores, breakouts, and visible redness. It’s truly the most effective treatment I’ve ever used, and the results from our panel tests have been just as impressive. It also pairs beautifully with the Ultra Clear Purifying Mask as an at-home treatment to further enhance results.
Being involved in both the scientific development process and participating in the internal clinic trials has been an incredible experience. After just a few treatments, I noticed fewer active breakouts, smoother texture, and a much clearer overall appearance.
Acne is hard to deal with, and even harder to treat. But with the right routine and a little patience, I’ve finally found a way to manage mine and I hope others can too.
